What are you planning to do to encourage awareness of Lymphedema
in your community?
Christine Chandler ~ Sunshine Coast
I will be giving a short presentation to our local Community Services Staff & Board members to explain Lymphedema
Lynn Holloway ~ Parksville
On Thursday, March 29th, I am partnering with our local Pharmasave and our Public Library to provide an information session on the lymphatic system and lymphedema. I will be talking about living with lymphedema; the drug store will have their compression garment fitter there to discuss garments; there will be an MLD therapist present to talk about what she does; and their health product specialist will be discussing how the lymphatic system works and what it does.
Lila Reynolds ~ Prince George
We will have an information table set up in the atrium of the University Hospital of Northern BC in Prince George from 10:00 A.M. until about 2:00 P.M. on March 6th. Pamphlets and informational brochures will be available for people to take home and we will have a sign up sheet for people who may wish to form a Support Group.
April Neave ~ Chilliwack
Bring awareness to staff and doctor at my doctor's office. Circulate awareness
via my email contacts.
Amber Pitman ~ Vancouver
Having a support group get together in Vancouver to celebrate World Lymphedema Day.
Gail Reichert ~ Sooke
I am busy setting up a support group for the southern tip of Vancouver Island. I will try and set up a meet and greet near the end of the month for group members. I will take some of the ideas and keep them in mind for next year.
Janine Leitch ~ North Vancouver
I spread the word by posting articles about Lymphedema and Awareness Day on both my personal Facebook page and Instagram account as well as on the BCLA Facebook Page. I distributed World Lymphedema Day posters at Lions Gate Hospital, all the North Vancouver Community Recreation centres and my public library. I also left several pamphlets in the Oncology Department at Lions Gate Hospital.
