00  BC Lymphedema Association

In the USA, the National Lymphedema Network has been having their Lymphedema Awareness D-Day annually on March 6th since 1994.  The lymphedema ( LE ) community nationwide celebrates this special day  to honor inspirational LE patients - those who have contributed to the community or who have shown great courage in their struggle with disease.  On this day, they show the world that lymphedema is no longer a rare condition by honoring the many people living with it today, and the exceptional health care providers who, with dedication and support, have touched their lives and hearts.

The BCLA wanted to start something similar to provide an  opportunity to bring education, awareness and support to the lymphedema community of BC . Thus  on March 6th  2010 we held our first awareness day   which morphed into a bi-annual conference held in the fall. However we still  encourage members around the province to acknowledge March 6th  by planning activities to raise awareness of  Lymphedema within their own communities.
